Easy Steps to Getting Better Sleep
Getting your beauty sleep is anything but a myth. A good night of sleep is so important to our physical and mental health. As part of our health & wellness series, we wanted to highlight some tips to ensuring you catch some quality Zzz's.
- Watch what you eat. Eating too close to bedtime causes your body to working through digestion while you are trying to sleep. Stop eating a few hours before bed so all of your systems can rest when you do.
- Take a bath or shower. Taking a warm bath or shower an hour before bedtime is not only relaxing, but it has been shown to help regulate your body temperature more effectively throughout the night. Using a shower steamer, like this one from Lemon Lavender, is the perfect way to add some aromatherapy as you unwind.
- Stretch. Spending a few minutes in gentle stretches before bed helps your body release tension from the day, and sets the mood for your body to relax.
- Turn off devices. Give yourself 30 minutes or more away from tv and phone screens to let your eyes and mind settle. Create an environment free of light through curtains or an eye mask to set up success for your circadian rhythm.
